Vivint Horror Stories

Recently there has been quite a controversy going on the internet about Vivint horror stories. Many people have their own story about Vivint to tell on the internet. Although plenty of stories have surfaced on the internet, we will be exploring a few of these in this article. Mentioned below are a few horror stories about Vivint.

Horror Story No 1

The first horror story starts with a Vivint salesman coming at people’s door, representing himself as a representative of another company. The salesman then proceeds to ask whether the person wants to sign for upgrading his contract. This is just to mislead the customer into signing in the contract and pay Vivint for something he wasn’t promised.

Horror Story No 2

The second horror story is about an elderly woman getting scammed by one of Vivint’s salesman. A salesman comes at her door and starts scaring her off by making up things about how the crime rate has increased in her area recently. The salesman went as far as saying that if she does not install an alarm system immediately, she’d either get raped or murdered in her own house. The woman got so worried that she accepted the deal and let the salesman install the security system. Even after she got the system removed, she was traumatized by the experience.

Horror Story No 3

The third horror story is about a husband and her wife having to deal with a salesman. After responding to the door outside, she was greeted by a salesman. Even after the wife declined the offer, the salesman threatened the wife to not leave the door’s house until she signs the contract. The husband had to step in. He simply told the salesman if he does not leave the house, he will have to physically remove him from his personal property as he had legal rights to do so.

Horror Story No 4

Probably the most horrifying story out of all is this one which has to do with a wife living alone at her house while the husband’s away. The same salesman came to their house twice in a 2-week period and harassed the wife. The wife successfully managed to avoid the salesman the 3rd time by telling the whole experience to her husband and filing a complaint.

  1. Similar to what you all experienced. So brought a new home 8/2021. Called Vivint against better judgement. Husband paid for the system in full. We were promised equipment that either took several months like almost 6 months after installation or never received. After 6 months outdoor camera on a 3 level home stopped working. After waiting on hold for several hours finally got someone who could barely speak English only to have her hang up on me as she continued to repeat everything and ask me the same questions over and over again. So I asked to be transferred to someone who could understand me and she hung up. Called back only to sit on hold again. After finally getting someone, as with another review. I was running back and forth to complete tech support them was told to go outside to reset the camera. Umm, ma’am I am in a 3 story home I cannot reach the camera. So she proceeds to have me unplug, count and unplug again. Camera starts working and works for 20 minutes and out again. So I called back, crappy service. After being utterly frustrated asked for a supervisor. Supervisor was nice and proceeded to schedule someone to come out to check the camera. Then she says with a laughing voice unfortunately there are no service appointments and I’m not sure when I can get someone out. So I asked to cancel the service. She proceeded to give me a $25 credit and would put a rush on getting someone in the service department to call me. After waiting my husband and I decided to cancel the monitoring subscription as we had already paid for the system. Because it was in my husband’s name I was told at first well you have to pay the balance to submit a request to cancel. Did that. Then I was told, you are not the purchaser so I called my husband on 3-way only for the rep to tell my husband all the things he told me and I had already said no. So my hair stopped him and informed him that my wife had already told you no just cancelled. Hung up with him and got a text about referring a friend-comical! So had to call back after being told I wouldn’t have another bill cause it would take them 30days to end monitoring. I was so discussed and disappointed like irritated to the fullest. Don’t buy the product customer service is horrible. After all of that. I get an email in which I homely had to submit a request in writing. After all that horror in the phone, the guy could have just given me the email address to submit the cancellation request. I’m telling you don’t fall for their lies. There were really professional in installing the system, why not I was the fool that paid it all up front. So disappointed now stuck with a useless system.

  2. I have had Vivint for about 2 years, first crazy experience was one of my door sensors kept going off line. Only a few weeks after receiving the system. I was told since that sensor was part of another security system I would gave to pay for a replacement since he couldn’t troubleshoot the error over the phone. I refused to pay …he did send the replacement but wanted to walk me thru installing it over the phone, second instance was my outdoor camera wouldn’t work, I guess I am the service tech for Vivint, they customer service perso. Had me type in codes go check camera, unplug, recheck codes, go get a ladder climb up to hit reset, go back in-house check something else, go back outside climb ladder hit reset again. By the 3rd time I told her that’s it. It’s over I’m not doing any more tech work. Get someone out here to fix this.
3rd time..Thermostat wouldn’t connect on the what was to be the 1st cold night of the year. Called customer service who again thinks I am a service tech with instructions to do this that and the other, tells me I have to pay for a replacement, when I refused, tells me ok ok they can ship a replacement and I’ll receive in 7-10 days..with Temps dipping to 30degrees at night and children..no sir I need that to be shipped over night.. well you will gave to pay and
receive in 3 days…that’s not overnight sir. Overnight would be 1day max. But the kicker is he did not tell me to return the old one. So here I am today and get a bank alert of 215.00 taken our of my account from Vivint, because I did not return the old one. I should have gotten a return label in the box. Well I didn’t and now they will email me a return label but that takes 3 days(what’s with this company and 3 days) to generate the email with return label. When I hang up I get immediate referral emails and text to refer friends, i wonder why those didn’t take 3 days to receive.
For the amount of money I pay I don’t feel like I should have to be a service tech with this equipment, and also they have poor equipment policies regarding paying for replacements. I dont own the equipment yet so therefore being charged to replace equipment I’m still paying on is ridiculous. Return it yes I can do that you can refurbish it and use again but make that clear and include shipping labels with clear precise instructions. If they had sent someone out to replace the thermostat I would never have been charged.
This company is equipment policies ****

I had a tech on line walk me thru replacing a hard wired unit they sent me a wireless once I got to what do you want me to do with all these wires hanging out of my wall he said I will connect with you thru your phone with a text and you can access a camera so we did that’s where he said oh no you need to reinstall that , that’s when I was transferred to a supervisor he made me an appointment for the next day which never happened so I called Vivint I now have been on the phone with them for one hour and nineteen minutes asking to speak with a supervisor and to reschedule an appointment they said they will call me Tuesday. Wednesday or Thursday to let me know , so I am to just take off work . ++++++++.

  4. I have never experienced any such things. My home security Vivint products are above average, easy to use and control from “anywhere” in the world. Bad sales people are out there, regardless of the produces, such as door to door magazine and cable provider sales people.

    • You should probably ask about what chip was used in the cameras and other devices provided to you. Likely the chips are all ones that cant be used for anything other than unsuspecting residential properties due to known security flaws and issues. As a security expert for a large company the fact you can access it from anywhere in the world means I probably can also..and that is the opposite of secure.

Not to mention the fact that the monthly bill is $127 per month for 60 months and then 56 per month following the 60 months. That’s 4k for the equipment alone…low grade and likely easily hackable equipment. For 4k you could seek out an actual security expert and have a high quality system installed and still have some semblance of network security left at the end.
