Sylvania smart bulbs are LED bulbs that can be controlled wirelessly using a smartphone. The smartphone controls how to turn lights on and off, dim them, change their color, and set schedules. There are a few reasons your Sylvania smart bulb might not connect to Google Home.
Sylvania Smart Bulb Not Connecting to Google Home Fix:
- Download the Correct App
First, ensure that the Sylvania Smart+ app is installed on your mobile device and that you logged in with the same account you set up your bulbs. If you’re unsure which app to use, check the packaging that your bulbs came in or look for the app with the Sylvania logo.
- Connect to the Same Wi-Fi Network
The Sylvania smart bulbs and your Google Home should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This is necessary because Google Home must be able to communicate with your Sylvania bulbs to control them. If you’ve checked that the app is installed and both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the next step is to make sure that the Sylvania skill is enabled in the Google Home app. To do this:
- Open the Google Home app.
- In the bottom right corner, tap Account.
- Tap Settings.
- Under “Devices,” tap Works with Google.
- Scroll down to find the Sylvania skill and tap it to turn it on.
Once you’ve completed these steps, try issuing a voice command to your Google Home to see if it can control your Sylvania smart bulbs.
- Check the Google Home App
Open the Google Home app and tap the Devices icon in the upper right-hand corner. If you see your Sylvania bulbs listed here, but they are not responding to voice commands, try tapping on the bulb and then tapping the three dots in the upper right-hand corner. Select Settings from here and ensure the toggle next to “Enable Voice Control” is turned on.
- Restart Your Devices
Try restarting your devices if your Sylvania smart bulbs are still not responding to voice commands. First, turn off your Sylvania smart bulbs by flipping the switch off at the breaker box. Wait for at least a few minutes before you turn the switch back on. Next, unplug your Google Home device for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
- Check Bulb Settings
If you’re still having trouble, open the Sylvania Smart+ app and select the settings menu. Ensure the “Works with Google” setting is turned on.
- Update Bulbs’ Firmware
Next, check for any updates available for your Sylvania smart bulbs by opening the Sylvania Smart+ app and tapping the hamburger icon in the top-left corner. Then, tap “Device Settings” and select the bulb you’re having trouble with. If there’s an update available, you’ll see a “firmware update” button that you can tap.
- Reset Google Home Connection
If your Sylvania smart bulb isn’t connecting to Google Home, you can try resetting the connection. To reset, open the Google Home app and go to Settings > More Settings > Works with Google. From there, tap on the Sylvania smart bulb and then tap Disconnect. Once you’ve done this, you can try connecting the bulb to Google Home again.
- Reset the Bulb
If you’re still having trouble, try resetting the bulb. To do this, screw the bulb into a lamp or light fixture and turn it on. Press and hold the button at the bottom of the bulb for about 5 seconds until the light blinks rapidly. This will reset the bulb to its factory settings. Reset your Sylvania smart bulb by turning it off and on again. If that doesn’t work, try removing the bulb from the Sylvania Smart+ app and then add it again.
- Factory Reset
If none of these solutions work, Consider factory resetting your Sylvania smart bulb. To do this, press and hold the power button on the bulb for 10 seconds. This should reset the bulb and allow you to start fresh with the setup process.
