The customization options brought forward by Skydrop make it one of the best options in the current market. There isn’t a better controller when it comes to optimizing the water supply according to the local weather conditions. So, if you’re thinking of investing in a new unit for your home, try to refer to this option, and you will have a much better experience. Just make sure to check compatibility before spending money to avoid any issues.
While this is one of the most customizable options, you will still be dealing with some common problems with Skydrop. Many owners have had issues with these units and struggle with managing the convenience of the device. So, the following list of common problems and solutions is intended to help you around these problems.
Skydrop Problems
- Missed Zones
The leading concern with this sprinkler controller is that it will sometimes create issues with missed zones in your yard. This can be quite problematic, and you will likely run into dead patches when the sections are ignored in your yard. The only thing you can do here is to check the controller for defective wiring.
There is a good chance that the wiring connections for those specific connections would be loose or corroded. So, you will have to secure these connection points and clean the wiring to avoid problems with the missed zones.
- Wi-Fi Problems
The Wi-Fi connectivity to the controller can be quite problematic when the signal strength is not optimal. Most of the time, you will find that moving the router closer to the controller will fix this issue for you. However, if the issue is with the controller not connecting to the Wi-Fi, try to check the channel bandwidth.
A quick power cycle goes a long way in fixing these problems with the unit. So, you should try to reconnect the power adapter to the router and check the Wi-Fi status. Hopefully, the issue with the Wi-Fi will be fixed at this stage.
- Controller Not Working
If you’re still struggling with the controller not working, then there is a good chance that the power connections are damaged. You will need a multimeter to isolate the issue further, and there is a good chance that you will find damaged wiring in the system. Your unit won’t work until the power supply in the unit is managed optimally.
So, try to engage the controller and then fix the wiring connections to get ahead of this problem. The multimeter will help you find defective wiring, and then you can replace the defective components to get everything working again.
- Mobile App Not Working
The mobile application can also create some issues with the system not working. This issue is mostly minor and doesn’t require much attention. So, you can either update the application or clear the app cache to get everything in working order. It will only take a few minutes to update the app, and that should eliminate the working problems.
However, if the issue persists, then reinstalling the application is your last bet. Try to call support to verify the status of official servers. That will give you more perspective on the issue.
- No Water on Any Zones
If there is no water in any zone, then that points towards issues with false scheduling or a broken main value. So, you need to first check the configurations on the controller to fix any issues with the water cycle.
If the wiring is in good shape, then you just have to check the main water valve for possible issues. There is a good chance that you will find clogged sections, or the main valve will be broken from a few sections.
- Water Not Stopping
If the water is not stopping after irrigation, then there is a good chance that you’re dealing with defective sensors. While excessive water pressure can lead to similar issues, you will need to isolate the problem to defective sensors. So, try to check the sensors and engage the experts to manage this issue better.
Ideally, replacing the sensors should be enough to fix this problem but if the issue persists, then calling the experts is your best option. Try to engage the dealer regarding the warranty policy.
my Skydrop app. is no longer working. it only works manually through my timer. I deleted the app. but I don’t know how or where can’t find the app Where can I reload?
Pretty sure the company has folded. My Skydrop station is very slow to respond to manual control. I cannot even access it remotely from the app. I just replaced it with a Rachio.
I believe Skydrop is defunct at this point. The website domain is no longer resolving to a company. Sadly the app connected to their server and not directly to the controller so it no longer works. I have to run the irrigation at the controller at this point until I replace it with an alternate.
