Schlage is one of the best smart home security services that are available out there in the market.
They are offering multiple products, including the Schlage Encode, Schlage Sense, and other such products that are remotely connected with Wi-Fi.
These locks are the best on the market when it comes to optimal durability and an extensive list of smart features. So, if you’re not too worried about paying the top buck, going with these locks is perfect for you.
Not only that, but you can control these locks over the smartphone application, and that allows you to have a single key in your phone app to use with all the locks that you might have over the place.
This is the best thing for you to have to ensure optimal security at your place. However, if you want to set up multiple users with Schlage, that might be a question to ponder, and here are a few things that you need to know about it.
Schlage Home App Multiple Users: What Does it Mean?
Setting up multiple users on the Schlage Home App will allow you to have multiple devices used as the keys.
With the access set up on the devices that you want to use and allow them access to the locks from Schlage, you can manage different levels of security and access for each user.
To know if it is possible and how you can set it up, you would need to know the following.
Is It Possible?
Schlage home app is one of the best and smartest applications from any such home security services provider.
You will be able to ensure that you are getting the right access level and convenience by setting up multiple users on the Schlage application.
It is quite possible to set up multiple user accounts on the Schlage Home app and grant them access for different timings and different locks as well, according to your preference.
Not only that, but you will also be able to ensure that you are getting the right logs and access to all the locks that you might have.
That means Schlage Home Application will be able to keep track of all the locks and which of the users have accessed them.
This way, you can monitor your home security in a better way. Not only that, but you will also be able to ensure that you are getting the right convenience by allowing guest access or restricted access for delivery and maintenance purposes.
So, yes! It is possible to set up multiple users. There are no extensive steps involved, and you will be able to allow access to other users pretty easily. Here are some more details on how to add multiple users to the Schlage Home App.
How to Achieve it?
The next thing that you will need to know is how you can achieve this, and it is pretty simple as well. All you will have to do is set up the primary account for Schlage Home Application by installing it on your phone.
After that, you will be able to add other users to the same application and choose the level of access that you want to add for each user.
It is recommended that you only select one primary device that is your own and allow different access to other users for them to be able to unlock the locks that you have from Schlage, but they will not be able to add other users.
However, it all comes down to your preferences. So, just experiment with the different features and set up the new users in the Schlage Home application one by one.
A virtual key will be granted to these users as soon as they accept the invitation.
Keep in mind that the invitation to the new users is only valid for 24 hours. After this time limit is up, you will have to send a new invite.
The users won’t be able to accept the old invitation, and that will be it when it comes to adding more users to the application.
At the moment, there is no limit to the number of users you can add to the application. All the users with the virtual key will be able to access the lock.
However, this option is only valid in the newer models offered by the Schlage dealer.
It only takes a few taps, and you can add any guest or a family member with the Schlage Home application.
So, the next time you wish to add someone to your security system without giving them an actual key, just go through this routine.
Another thing that you might ask yourself is whether or not you can remove these users from the application.
You’ll be glad to know that your app will maintain admin controls at all time. So, when you have to remove the guests, just follow the same steps and edit the user status.
The virtual key or the access code can be removed pretty easily. You don’t have to worry about giving free access to the guest for an indefinite period.
It all comes down to your performance, and you can recall the key and the access codes at any time.
With that said, if you do run into issues with the application or can’t seem to add users, try updating the application. There are many bugs in the older versions, and it might create the same problems for you.
However, if your app is already updated, then reach out to the official Schlage support. These professionals will help you secure a response from the app. Hopefully, you won’t have to bother with any more errors.
Wrapping Up
The Schlage home app can support multiple users with a single lock. You can simply rely on the admin controls and click on the bottom right user icon to add more people.
Depending upon the lock you’re using, you can either add access codes or send virtual keys.
By sending virtual keys, you will be asking other owners to confirm the invitation. From there, they will have access to the lock. However, this invitation can expire within 24 hours.
If the users don’t accept the invitation in this period, a new one will need to be sent.
With that said, you can always remove the users that are already present in the application.
So, the next time guests arrive, just grant them a key and remove them from the app after they have left. That way, you don’t have to worry about providing indefinite access to others.
Lastly, if you’re getting into problems with the application, try updating the application or resetting the stored data. Minor bugs are not that rare, and you will need official support to isolate and fix these errors.
If the problem is not fixed by simply updating the app, then there might be something wrong with the account. Sadly, only an expert can help you through these errors. So, reach out, and they will help you through the account issues.
Hopefully, you won’t have to go through much hassle, and the support members will respond within the same day to help you through these minor problems!
Here is what I learned. Click on access and send an invitation for a virtual key. That will add another user. If you have more than one lock, the other party will have access to all the locks. The person who received the virtual key will not be able to add other users.
What is the difference between remote access and a virtual key?
Can more than one user be connected via Bluetooth to open the lock remotely?
This worked to add it to an iphone (I set it up on my android as primary). It didn’t allow me to set it up in the iPhone Home though..
I want both me and my wife to be able to open the lock from our iphone. I downloaded the app to both phones. Then I set up the account on my phone. But I don’t see how to add the remote unlock capability on my wife’s phone. Is this possible-and not for a one time or limited time opening. And not giving her her own code to enter into the key pad. I want me-or my wife- to be able to remotely open the lock.
Work-around. I set the app up in my iPhone. M my wife downloaded the app and uses my ID and password to sign on. It seems to work fine with both of us signed in on the same password on 2 iPhones.
Bob, thank you so much for this information. It works great!!
Sweet. I tried with be being the first to download the app, but my wife was unable to use my ID and Password to sign it. SO we reset back to factory. My wife downloaded the app first, use her email ID and password. Then I deleted my app from cellphone. re-installed the app back in, and used my wife’ email and password and WORKED!! Finally got 2 cellphones (Wife’s and Mine) working with app remotely.
Thanks I was wondering about that as well .. that’s why we cut two keys right . So each one has one
Rob did you find the solution to this issue?
I have been looking for the share feature for a long time. My wife and should be able to add all the locks we have to each of our individual Schlange app on our respective phones so that we can both manage them remotely when needed.
Im getting to the point of replacing all our Schlange locks because this basic feature isn’t available on a smart lock.
I’ve not found a way for more than one person to be able to add users. The Kwikset app allows you to invite others to have admin rights but Schlage doesn’t. A real drawback and I’m probably going back to Kwikset because of it.
This was of no help whatsoever. Like other people on here, the question is whether more than one user can be an admin to be able to add users and set up codes. How difficult can it be to understand and answer this basic question???
I share your frustration – I have the same question. But this post on the Schlage website suggests that it’s possible to generate virtual keys with “admin” rights. https://www.schlage.com/blog/categories/2019/12/schlage-smart-lock-access-codes.html
I’m doing the same thing as another , by just downloading the app onto my wife’s iPhone with my password and just leaving it on her phone with her own code
Can more than 1 user add codes
Same question!
Can more than one user add entry codes?
