The Ring power kit is necessary for your Ring Doorbell Pro. Among other things, it can help you avoid power-related issues with your Ring Doorbell Pro. There is a separate manual included in the box for the power kit. However, if you don’t want a wired doorbell then you can go for a different variant of Ring doorbell that relies on a battery pack.
Ring Doorbell Pro Red Lights
A lot of customers have been wondering about the red lights on their Ring doorbell. Let’s cover why there are multiple red LED indicators on your doorbell and what you can do about them.
- Insufficient Light
Most of the customers that experienced this type of behavior from their Ring doorbell had installed the video doorbell in a shaded area. So, if your doorbell is not getting sufficient light then it will turn on the night vision mode and you will see the IR lights that appear to be red to your eye. The main purpose of this feature is to allow the Ring doorbell to maintain the image quality even when there is not enough light.
You will mostly see these red lights when it is dark outside. However, if you’re getting red lights on your Ring doorbell during the daytime then it is likely that you have installed the doorbell in a shaded region. To get around this problem, you will need to change the position of your doorbell and install it in an area that has sufficient light. Then the IR lights won’t turn on until it’s dark outside. The red lights don’t indicate that your device is faulty, it is just a feature to improve the efficiency of your smart doorbell.
- Check Night Mode
To verify this, you can also check the night mode on your Ring app and it will probably be on. That way you will be sure that the red lights of your Ring doorbell pro are because of the IR filter and there is nothing wrong with your device. These IR lights will automatically turn on when there is not enough light and insufficient light is affecting the picture quality.
If you’re sure that the device is installed in a place with sufficient light then you will need to check the night mode configurations on your Ring doorbell. There is still a possibility that something is wrong with your device settings which is why you keep seeing the IR lights even when there is plenty of lights outside. You can try changing configurations or reset the device to see if that fixes your problem.
- Customer Support
Most of the time, the IR lights are just there to improve the quality of the stream. However, if you believe that there is something wrong with your device and the IR lights are not turning off even when there is sufficient light then you will have to contact Ring support. Ideally, there won’t be anything wrong with your device and the support can recommend you some changes in the device configuration to get everything back on track.
