While there is no debate that these cameras are consistent and reliable, you will still struggle to install these units in your house. The situation with the Reolink camera not scanning the QR code is mostly related to network complications. There are also other factors like a dirty lens or an outdated application that can play a role here. Fixing Reolink Camera Not Scanning QR Code:
- Refresh Router Connection
Refreshing the router connection should be your first move when the Reolink camera is not scanning the QR code. There is a good chance that the issue stems from network problems, and there is nothing wrong with your mobile device or the QR code.
So, remove power from the router for a few minutes and then power up the camera one more time. That should be enough to help you scan the QR code as you’re trying to pair up your new Reolink camera.
- Try A Different Network
Making use of a different network is not a bad option if the issue is not fixed after cycling power through your router. So, you can either rely on the mobile hotspot from a different device or connect to another router when trying to pair up your Reolink camera. - Remove Secondary Light Sources
If you’re trying to scan the code next to a reflective surface or a secondary light source, that can interfere with the procedure. - Adjust Orientation Of Your Mobile Device
The QR code should be perfectly in the middle of your screen, and you should avoid angling the camera lens when scanning the code. If any section of the QR code is outside the highlighted region, you won’t be able to get any response from the camera.
So, make sure that the orientation of your mobile device is perfect as you’re trying to scan the code. Otherwise, you’ll just be wasting your time, and the unit won’t respond to any input. All you have to do is to make sure that the complete QR code is within the highlighted region in the middle of your screen.
- Manually Add UID Code
At this point, you should just save yourself the hassle and go through the manual pairing process by adding the UID code. It will take a few more seconds, but at least you won’t have to waste hours trying to connect the Reolink camera.
So, just manually add the UID code and then check the response from your camera. You can also choose to seek help from customer support, but it will just be quicker to use the UID code. Hopefully, you won’t have to worry about pairing issues again.
