Owlet cam can be a bit annoying when it comes to the initial setup, and a ton of users have complained about Error OC01, where the unit won’t connect to Wi-Fi. These connection issues are pretty common when you’re talking about the Owlet units, and many users have been frustrated by this issue. Most of the time, you should be able to get the camera working by going through a few basic fixes.

So, there is no need to get alarmed, and you can test some of the methods mentioned here to get your Owlet system working again. Hopefully, you won’t have to get the unit replaced, and it will connect to the home network.
- Remove The 5.0 GHz Channel
One of the main reasons why so many users struggle with the network connection is because they are trying to connect the device to a 5.0 GHz channel. This device can only work with a 2.4 GHz network, and even if you have dual-band routers, it is a good idea to turn off the 5.0 GHz channel before you try to go forward with the network connection. Hopefully, you will be able to save yourself some time, and the issue with the Error OC01 will be fixed at this point.
- Update Credentials
Sometimes, you will have to update the credentials on the router and remove any special characters that might interfere with the network connection. Simply removing the special characters and only using the basic alphabets and numeric should address this situation. So, change the Wi-Fi username and password to remove all of the symbols that might complicate the connection process.
- Try Another Smartphone
It is also possible that the issue is related to your mobile device and not the router. So, there is no harm in trying a different mobile device with an updated OS to connect with the Wi-Fi. Many users were able to maneuver through this error by using a different phone, and there is a good chance you’re also running into similar issues.
- Reboot Your Router
Rebooting the router is the next thing that you need to do to refresh the network connection. Make sure to also check the security configurations are set to WPA 2, and then try to connect with your camera one more time. If your security settings are already updated, a simple power cycle should eliminate the minor connection bugs. However, you will have to reset the router or switch to a different network if you’re unsure about the stability of your home network.
Similarly, you should also try to move the router closer to the device so that there aren’t any signal strength issues. It will further minimize interferences, and you’ll have a better chance of connecting the Owlet camera when it is presenting the error code OC01.
- Update Owlet Application
You need to also check the current version of your Owlet application and make sure to update the application if you’re not already on the latest version. The reviews on the Owlet app are not that great, and you need to always be on the latest version to avoid these programming issues. Most of the time, developers are pretty responsive and provide users with updated patches that help address minor issues with the network connection. Even if you’re already on the latest version, try resetting the app by clearing the app cache and stored data.
- Try Resetting The Camera
At this point, the only option left is to hard reset the camera back to factory settings. If the issue is not related to the hardware or your router, then a quick reset should get everything back on track. So, all you need to do is to hold down the button on the back of your owlet system for a few seconds, and the camera will inform you when the reset is complete.
As soon as the camera announces that it is in pairing mode, you can let go of the button and then allow the camera to load. Now, you can go through the installation procedures from scratch one more time and then check the response from the Wi-Fi connection. Hopefully, you won’t have to bother with calling the customer support members, and the issue will be fixed at this point.
