How to Fix Owlet Base Station not Connecting to Wi-Fi?
- Base Station within Range
First, ensure your Owlet base station is within range of your router. The base station must be close enough to the router to get a strong signal. If it’s too far away, it won’t be able to connect. Check that your base station is within range of your router. If it is too far away, it may not be able to connect.
- Check the Signal Strength
Next, you’ll want to check the signal strength of your wi-fi network. If the signal is weak, it can cause problems connecting. To check the signal strength:
- Go to the settings menu.
- Select “Wi-fi.”
- Choose the network you’re trying to connect and look at the signal strength next to it.
In case of a weak signal. Move your router closer to the base station or move the base station closer to the router. Check the signal strength of your wi-fi at the router and the base station’s location. If the signal is weak, that could be why the base station is having trouble connecting. Try moving the router closer to the base station, or if you have a wi-fi extender, place it in proximity to extend the range.
- Update Firmware
If you’ve checked that the base station is within range and the signal strength is good, but it’s still not connecting, the next thing to do is check for updates to the firmware. Firmware updates are released periodically and can sometimes fix issues like this. To update the firmware on your Owlet base station, connect it to your computer with the USB cable and open the Owlet app. Once the app recognizes the base station, it will prompt you to update the firmware if there is an update available.
- Router Must Broadcast signal.
The router signal must be broadcasted at a minimum 2.4GHz Frequency. Finally, ensure your router is broadcasting a signal on the 2.4GHz frequency. The Owlet base station will only connect to routers that broadcast on this frequency. If your router is set to broadcast on the 5GHz frequency only, you’ll need to change the settings so that it also broadcasts on the 2.4GHz frequency. Confirm that your router is turned on and broadcasting a signal. If it is not, turn it on and try again.
- Disconnect Base Station
Finally, check that your base station is not already connected to another wi-fi network. If it is, you will need to disconnect it from that network before it can connect to yours.
- Restart the Base Station
If none of these tricks, as mentioned earlier, seem to help, the next step is to restart the base station. Unplug the power cord from the base station and wait a few seconds before plugging it back in. Once the base station has restarted, try connecting to wi-fi again.
- Reset the Base Station
If restarting the base station doesn’t work, you can try resetting it. To reset, press and hold the reset button on the back of the base station for 3 seconds. This will restore the base station to its default settings. Once reset, you can set it up again and try connecting to wi-fi.
