When loading photos on your Nixplay, there’s a good chance that you might have stumbled across the “File format not supported error”. Even though the error message is pretty clear, there are a number of reasons why you may have seen it appear on your digital frame.
This is why today; we will be taking an in-depth look at all the different ways you can get rid of this error message. So, if you want to learn more about this problem, here are all the things that you should be aware of!
Fixing Nixplay File Format Not Supported
- For Photo Formats
Unfortunately, the Nixplay currently supports only a handful of picture formats. So, if you are getting this error message, then you are probably uploading photos in a format that isn’t supported. More specifically, you should have no problems uploading pictures that are in JPEG, TIFF, and PNG formats.
Though it is also worth mentioning that if you are using an iOS device, you should still be able to upload photos that are in HEIC format as well. But this format only seems to be supported for users that are specifically using iOS devices. During the upload process, these photos will automatically be converted into JPEG format.
On the other hand, if you are using an Android device, then you won’t be able to upload photos that are in HEIC format. Likewise, there have been claims that they are currently working on bringing this feature to Android devices as well. But as of now, there hasn’t been any news on when this will be available on these devices.
- For Video Formats
If you are getting this error code while dealing with a video, then you should still make sure that you upload only the supported formats. Even if you are uploading an MP4 file, it must be encoded only in H265 or H264 as these are the ones that Nixplay will support.
Certain other device models may also support MOV video file format. When being uploaded to the cloud, these formats will be converted to a 720p 30FPS Mpeg 4 video Codec. If you are using any newer device (released less than 5 years ago), then you should be able to use the following file formats:
- File Format: MP4
- Supported Codecs: H265, H264
- Resolution: 128×128 (minimum) up-to 1080p (Full-HD)
- Aspect Ratio: 16:9
- FPS: 30
- Bitrate: up to 20Mbps
Apart from this, you should note that slow-motion videos aren’t supported by Nixplay. Furthermore, if you are trying to view live photos, they will first be converted into static photos before you are able to view them.
Also, if you are using older devices, then you might not be able to support some of the above-mentioned formats.
- Contacting Support For Help
If you are sure to be using a supported file format or are confused about the procedure, then you should feel free to contact the support team. Be sure to mention the model of your device along with the phone that you are trying to use to upload the photos. Also, include the format of photos which are being uploaded that is giving you the error message.
Similarly, after having a look at your query, the support team should let you know what could be wrong and what you can do to get it fixed. Just ensure that you remain as cooperative as you possibly can throughout the whole process.
