It is pretty rare for customers to complain about performance complications with the Nixplay frames, as these are some of the most reliable digital frames on the market. However, every now and then, a few customers do complain about problems like the Nixplay frame not turning on. These problems are sometimes related to the insufficient voltage issues from the source, but excessive use of storage accessories will also create the same problem.
If you’re dealing with a similar issue where the Nixplay won’t turn on after you’ve just unboxed the unit, then here are some solutions to help you through the troubleshooting process. So, just follow through with this list, and hopefully, you won’t have to claim the warranty.
Nixplay Frame Won’t Turn On
- Check The Adapter Connection
You should start by checking the adapter link with the outlet as well as the frame. A loose connection can sometimes create these power issues, and if your frame and adapter are in good shape, reconnecting the Adapter to both the frame and the power outlet should address this complication. Once the adapter has been reconnected, you can try to turn on the Nixplay frame one more time.
- Remove Memory Stick
The presence of storage devices might not seem like that much of an issue, but it does play into minor bugs with the Nixplay frame not turning on. So, it is a good idea to remove all the storage extensions from the Nixplay frame before plugging in the power adapter. This will decrease the load on the adapter, and once the unit turns on, you can reconnect the memory stick to check the response.
There is a chance that the memory stick you’re using is defective and creates power issues with the Nixplay frame. So, if the frame turns off as soon as you plug in the storage extension, just grab a replacement and use the new stick with your Nixplay frame. That way, you won’t have to bother with the same power issues again.
- Use The Frame Power Button
The remote can also be sometimes behind this issue with the frame not turning on. So, you need to rely on the power button located on the Nixplay frame itself when it won’t turn on. As long as the power output from the outlet is optimal, the power button should help you get a secure response from the frame, and it will turn on without further complications.
- Check Output From Outlet
The output from the outlet is the next thing that you need to consider when the frame won’t show any response to your input from the frame power button. You should hire a professional to check the electrical connections as it is not a smart idea to mess with the wiring yourself. However, if you’re confident in your skills and have some experience with the maintenance of electrical connections, then you can rely on a multimeter to check the voltage output from the outlet.
- Inspect Power Cord
If the output from the outlet is not at fault here and you’re not getting any response even when using a different outlet in your house, then you need to inspect the condition of the power cord. The frame might be durable, but the same can’t be said about the power wires. So, you should carefully inspect the power cord and reach out to customer support for a replacement.
Even if there are small damaged sections on the power cord, there is no point in trying to make use of this cord. So, thoroughly inspect each section and then try using a different cord if your current wire is damaged.
- Claim Warranty
The last thing left to do when all of these fixes fail you is to get a replacement from the Nixplay dealer. Your frame is likely defective and is not taking any power from the adapter. So, you should inform the dealer about this defect and have him send you a new unit. Once the claim is verified, it won’t take you more than a few days to get a replacement. Moreover, the process will be quicker if you have a Nixplay Plus subscription for all the digital frames in your home.
My NIX 15″ photo frame was costly but very much enjoyed it’s clear view for just over a year then it quit; won’t power up. There is power to the screen but does not activate at all. I also have a Pandigital 15″ that won’t power up. I didn’t last any longer. Are these devices only good for a year until the warranty runs out. Any suggestions on how to get either one working?
My Nixplay frame was a gift several years ago and has been great to receive pics from family. Last week it suddenly shut itself off. Wasn’t able to activate with my remote. Changed the battery and unplugged the power cord. When plugging it back in the Nixplay logo flashed for a few seconds and briefly ran some of my stored photos. A pop up said it would power off, shut down and sleep. The screen went dark and has the logo outline left, unable to get any response from the remote. How do I wake it up?
