Most of you will be familiar with the Amazon range of smart home products. As such, this one doesn’t need much of an introduction.
Designed to hook up to your Wi-Fi and give you a whole range of unique lighting options, the Magic Home is a pretty efficient system.
In fact, generally, if you are buying your smart home stuff from Amazon, you can expect pretty good quality throughout.
And this handy little device is no exception, boasting a wide range of features for users to enjoy; such as a dimmer option, and a timer.
However, we do realize that there is no way you would be here if everything was working perfectly for you at this moment.
Luckily, as far as problems with the Magic Home go, quite a few of them are easily remedied and fixable by yourself.
In fact, to get to the root of many problems with this tech, all that is needed is a quick factory reset. So, to show you how this is done, we have put together this little guide to help you through the process, step by step.
How to Do a Factory Reset on a Magic Home LED Strip
Doing a factory reset can be a little tricky if you don’t have any tech experience. But, don’t worry, it is totally possible for anyone to do if you know how.
- The first thing you will need to do is to disconnect the device from the internet. Though this may sound like a pretty strange thing to do, there is a good reason for it. Your Magic Home will not reset unless it is fully disconnected from the internet. So, once you have made sure that is done, it is time to move onto the next step.
- The next step is quite simply to just press and hold in the on button for a few seconds. After a few seconds, your Magic Home should switch off. Now, wait a few seconds and repeat this technique again. Switch it on, press the button in for a few seconds, and then turn it off again.
- Unfortunately, you will need to repeat this process four or five times before the device will factory reset for you. We realize that this is a pretty unusual reset protocol, but if it works, it works!
- After the fourth of fifth repetition, the bulb will give off a bright strobe to confirm that it has reset. There will be no mistaking this.
- In the final step, all you will need to do is confirm that the LED has indeed strobed. If it has, all that remains for you to do is to turn off the LED once last time and switch it back on again. At this stage, that will mean that the factory reset was a success.
Factory resetting devices such as these is a great way to clear out any bugs and performance issue that may have crept in over time.
And, now that you know how it is done, you will be able to do is much quicker the next time around.
However, this type of fix is by no means guaranteed to work 100% of the time. Though resetting will help in most cases, it is also possible that there may be some hardware issue that needs taking care of.
In cases such as these, the only thing we can recommend is that you call in the experts. Taking the device apart by yourself can lead to outcomes such as your warranty being avoided.
Also, if you are not all that familiar with electronics, there is a good chance that you can permanently damage the device.
We hope the steps above were of use to you and will be of use to you the next time around too.
