There is no doubt about it, LaMetric Time is much, much more than just your average everyday clock.
For those of you have used one before, you will recognize it as one of the most intricate, smart, and well connected timekeeping devices ever invented.
Yes, perhaps antique watches that have managed to keep time for decades and even centuries might be slightly more impressive, but let’s not take away from the intricacy of this device just yet.
After all, when it comes to functionality and a broad range of useful options for the user, there seems like there isn’t many out there that can compete, right? Well, maybe not…
As a metric for how truly amazing the LaMetric is, we took into account that you can do a whole range of things with it that just aren’t things you would normally expect.
For example, you can set up notifications for your meetings, sync your calendar, access an accurate reading of the temperature, listen to music through it, and much more.
Sure, most of these things you can do with a smart phone, right? But of course, there’s more.
You can also decide to use it as a hub for all of your smart appliances from the comfort of your own home, or even away from home if you want to. Want an added touch of security in the home?
Well, the LaMetric has you covered. For those of you who want to be able to monitor the goings on in their home, the LaMetric also comes with a built-in camera.
LaMetric Time Alternatives
So, to compete against this kind of standard, the competition needs to bring quite a bit to the table. Essentially, they need to be able to do all of this, for less money, while still being reliable and well built.
Amazingly, there are actually a few brands out there who are on this level. So, if you’re in the market for something different and want to think outside the box, the options below might well be exactly what you have been looking for.
So, no more faffing about. Let’s get into it!
1. The Ingrein Smart Clock
Have you noticed that a huge amount of modern devices can all end up having a really similar and unimaginative look? Us too. It seems that every modern device is released with the same plasticky and ‘modernistic’ design flair.
Well, for those of you who are tired of that same old aesthetic, this option may be of particular interest to you. The Ingrein Smart Clock combines modern technological advancements with a more classical and almost antique design.
Filling out the vintage look and feel of the device, the Ingrein sports a wooden finish with analog handles.
However, don’t let the vintage design fool you into thinking that this clock isn’t as advanced as you would like. All of the modern features you would expect are still there, albeit packaged in a different aesthetic.
Shrouded in the wooden finish, you will find your standard modern digital clock with a backlighting effect and a compact screen.
Naturally, for the Ingrein to be considered as a rival for the LaMetric, it needs to be packed full of features too.
And, it is! Like the LaMetric, this clock can connect up with all of your smart home appliances, smartphones, and laptops.
As far as the information it provides go, it also displays pretty much any piece of info you could ever possibly need – and some you probably never will! Want to read your messages, emails, and check the weather on your clock?
The good news is that you absolutely can! Despite the rustic appearance of the clock, the screen that it contains can be synched to any of your smart devices.
You can also customize what notifications you want to receive through the clock, and what way you want to be notified.
So, if you’re looking for something a little bit different to the norm without compromising on features, this one is definitely worth looking into.
2. The Glance Smart Clock
For quite a few of you, if you are familiar with the LaMetric, you will also have seen this one too. In this way, this may seem like a bit of an obvious alternative, but perhaps it is so for a good reason?
There has been quite a bit of hype about this clock, especially considering that the developers insist on dubbing it “the world’s smartest wall clock”. It’s a lofty claim, no doubt, but does it hold true?
Let’s start with the aesthetics of it. For starters, this model allows the user to pick from a whole range of colors, thus allowing them to personalize their clock according to their own preferences.
There’s also no doubt that the design of the unit itself is such that it will appeal to many of you. It’s non-offensive, not all that flashy, and sleek – perfect for usage in pretty much any room imaginable.
Perhaps the nicest touch is the clock’s old-school analog hands, allowing for a little hint of a vintage feel to a modern device.
Now, some of you may well be aware that analog hands can occasionally slip or be manipulated in such a way where they end up giving the wrong time.
Glance, in their wisdom, have taken this into account and ensured that the hands are also linked to the digital screen, so you’ll never have the wrong time.
Like most other devices in this range, the Glance also displays an incredible amount of information via its screen. But its smartness by no means ends there.
Like the LaMetric, it can be customized in such a way that it keeps you up to date with the weather forecast, your notifications, reminders, and scheduled events.
Basically, all you need to do to make this a reality is to sync it up with your other smart devices.
You can also program the display to light up different colors at different times of the day and set reminders for pretty much any imaginable task or event.
All in all, it seems like we absolutely have to consider this as a worthy competitor to the LaMetric.
3. Timebox, by Divoom
Rounding out this list, it’s time to give our honorable mention to the Timebox, by Divoom.
For those of you who may not need all of the seemingly millions of features of the LaMetric, Ingrein and Glance, this clock may well be exactly what you have been looking for.
And, it also comes in at a whole load cheaper. Of course, there is the trade-off wherein you lose a few of the quirks of the others, but there may well be enough for you here to peak your interest.
The Timebox is by no means completely devoid of any bells, whistles, and flair. For example, it has a professional sleep-aid and a relatively smart and effective smart alarm program.
There’s also the added benefits of the FM radio tuner and an inbuilt voice messenger. You will also be able to receive your notifications from social media, if you want to, and there’s a temperature gauge in there too.
So, what exactly is the downside? Well, the compromise is that you will have to miss out on the smart home features of the LaMetric.
But, if you already have a smart home hub, or don’t wat one at all, this clock will be an excellent option for you.
