How To Fix Insignia Smart Plug Not Working
Although, Insignia Smart Plugs are easy to install and easy to use, as is the case with all other devices, sometimes the users may face issues with Insignia Smart Plugs. Many users have reported their Insignia Smart Plug not working due to various reasons. If you are facing the same issue, here is a troubleshooting guide that you can use to fix it.
1) Check the Compatibility of the Devices You Are Trying to Control
One of the major issues that many users face is with device compatibility. They are not able to operate certain devices with their Insignia Smart Plug and they deem it to be an issue with the plug. However, this is not the case. So if you are not able to control a device plugged into your smart plug check for the device compatibility. The power specifications of the devices that you can control should be 120V AC, 60 Hz, up to 15 A – 1800 W Max. Most of the devices that have these specifications can be controlled with the Insignia smart plugs.
2) Reset Your Smart Plug
If your Insignia Smart Plug is not working at all, resetting it may resolve the problem. To reset your Insignia Smart Plug, please press the button and hold it for about 10 seconds. You will see an LED light flashing green and your Smart Plug will reset once you release the button.
3) Factory Reset the Smart Plug
Sometimes the issue is with the settings of the Insignia Smart Plug. In such situations, you can try factory resetting your Smart Plug to get it back to working condition. To reset an Insignia Smart Plug, first, unplug it and then press the power button. Keep holding the power button and while you are holding it plug Insignia Smart Plug in an outlet. Once the plug is in the outlet, you will hear a clicking sound after about 4 seconds of plugging it in. After that you can let go of the power button. The LED light will blink and the smart plug will be reset.
4) Replace The Plug
In some rare cases, the plugs are actually broken or damaged from inside. Therefore, trying the above mentioned troubleshooting steps won’t get them to working condition. So if you have tried the steps mentioned above and you are unable to get your plug into a working condition, then there is a possibility that it may be broken or damaged from inside. So you may need to replace the plug.
