A lot of users have recently been complaining about their Google Home not working with the Wink Hub. In this article, we will be going over some solutions that can help you potentially fix this problem.
How to Fix Google Home Not Working With Wink?
- Power Cycle
The first thing that you should do to fix this issue is reboot both devices. If you’re lucky then this issue might just be a minor bug that can easily be fixed after you power cycled both devices. To do so, just unplug the power cord from both devices and wait for around 60 seconds before you plug it back in.
Once both devices boot up you can try linking the Google Home with the Wink Hub to check if that fixes the problem. This fix won’t take up much of your time and there is a high chance that your issue will be fixed.
- Update Firmware
Some users have mentioned that this issue was resolved after they updated their Firmware. So, if you’ve not updated the Wink Firmware in a long time then now might be the perfect time to do so.
All you need to do is open up the Wink mobile app and go into the hub settings. From there you need to just swipe down and click on Firmware updates. After you can manually check for updates and then download the latest version onto your Wink hub. Make sure to also enable automatic firmware updates to avoid running into similar issues again. After the hub is updated, you can try using Google Home to check if it is working with the hub.
- Re-Link Devices
Another possible fix for this issue is to refresh the connection between the two devices. You can easily do so by opening up the Google Home app and removing the wink hub from the list of linked devices. Once the device has been removed you should relaunch the application and then press the + icon on the bottom of your home screen to add the wink hub to your Google Home account.
- Ask Support Team
If the issue is still not fixed then the only option that you’re left with is to contact the Wink Support team and explain your situation to them. Sometimes, server-based issues can also cause similar problems. In which situations, you can’t do anything except wait for the update from the developers.
So, to be sure whether the issue is from your device or the Wink servers you need to go to the Wink forums and open up a support ticket. The Wink support team is quite responsive and you won’t have to wait more than 24 hours. Afterward, all you have to do is follow their instructions and your issue will likely be fixed.
