How to Fix Geeni Lights on After Power Outage?
Quite a number of users have been complaining about facing issues with their Geeni light bulbs. According to these users, the Geeni lights are turning on and off after a power outage. For some users, the lights are blinking. Regardless of the behavior of the issue, one thing’s for certain is that the users are quite annoyed by the issue.
Today, we will be taking a look at the issue and explaining to you all the different ways how you can fix the issue for good. All the troubleshooting steps are mentioned down below:
- Dimmer Switches Could be the Reason
Most of the users mentioned how dimmer switches are one of the prime reasons for your bulbs to start acting up after a power outage. This is because the dimmer switches are known to cause issues and get wonky after a sudden power outage.
To further confirm or test this, we recommend that you try turning off the lights of the dimmer and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then it most definitely is the dimmer switches which is causing the issue to surface.
- Try Turning off your Smart Devices
Another thing that you can do that could potentially help in fixing the issue is to try and turn off all your smart devices for a while. More specifically, what we recommend you do is to turn off your smart hub for a few minutes along with your smart bulbs.
After 30 minutes or so has passed, you can try to reconnect all of your devices. Hopefully, this power cycle should be able to resolve the blinking issue of your lights.
- Contact Support
If both the above-mentioned steps seem to do nothing in your case, then the only other thing that you can do is to contact the support team. They should help you find out exactly the reason behind the issue and the required steps you can do in order to troubleshoot and fix the issue. All you need to do is to be as cooperative as possible.

Rain in the country set off the power outage .. quick on and off (power surge to generator and back to main power) its 4am and every light in my house is flashing like it’s possessed! Had to get up and manually switch off every lamp! App is worthless and I’ll be returning the bulbs! The other brand of smart bulbs don’t go into set up mode they just stay off until you have to manually reset them! So much better than an episode or seizure due to rapidly flashing lights all over the house! Ridiculous!
I went into “Smart Life” app and disconnected the 3 bulbs that were flashing after power outage (resetting at switch didn’t help, and they were not connected in the app). Once I disconnected (just disconnect, don’t disconnect and reset), then I turned light back on and it flashed again – noting setup mode. When I went to add a smart light, it recognized it as the original named light.
Hope this helps!
I am on vacation and the power in my home went out. My neighbor tells me that “lights are flashing in my home. Is everywhere OK?” This happens every time the power goes out. My lights will be flashing the entire time we are away.
How can I fix this remotely?
Same issue but we have a lake house 200 miles away so my phone blows up everytime this happens. We need a way to prevent this or remotely re-pair the bulbs automatically.
