Common Govee RGBIC Floor Lamp Problems Troubleshooting

  1. Wi-Fi Connection Is Spotty

The floor lamp is designed to connect with the Wi-Fi connection of your home for easier control over the functionality and features.

However, if your floor lamp isn’t creating a strong connection with the floor lamp, we recommend that you check the Wi-Fi credentials to make sure you are using the correct ones.

The Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive, so make sure you insert the alphabet, symbols, and numbers correctly.

If the Wi-Fi password is correct, you have to check the signal reception of your Wi-Fi because poor signal strength can result in a spotty internet connection.

The simplest solution is to put your Wi-Fi router and the floor lamp closer to each other to make sure the internet signals reach the floor lamp.

Another thing that you’ve to check is the Wi-Fi channel you are using – the Govee floor lamp only works with a 2.4GHz channel, so open the Wi-Fi settings and change the wireless channel to 2.4GHz from 5GHz.

Also, when you change the wireless channel, make sure you reboot the internet router to make sure the settings are saved and configured.

  1. Floor Lamp Is Not Connecting To Wi-Fi

If the floor lamp is not connecting to Wi-Fi at all, the first step is to check the wireless channel you have selected in the router settings.

This is because the floor lamp only works with a 2.4GHz channel. So, open the router settings, go to the wireless settings, and select 2.4GHz in the wireless channel field. Also, you must set a different password for each channel.

Router

On the other hand, if you are already using the 2.4GHz channel, it’s likely that the router isn’t configured properly, which is why we recommend rebooting the router. To reboot the router, you have to turn it off for a few minutes.

The third solution is to check the Wi-Fi password because using the incorrect password will prevent you from connecting to the Wi-Fi. Make sure you don’t leave any space at the end of the password.

If nothing works, we recommend that you reset the floor lamp and reconnect it to the internet. For this purpose, you have to press the center button on your lamp’s control box four times while pressing the power button.

  1. Remote Isn’t Working

The floor lamp by Govee comes with a remote control, which can be used to control the floor lamp. However, if the remote control is not working, you have to check the remote’s label.

In particular, there is a plastic label on the remote control, which has to be pulled out for the remote to connect. In addition to this, make sure the remote control is pointing at the black receiver on the control box.

On the other hand, if the remote control isn’t working after pulling out the label and optimizing its direction, you have to check the batteries.

battery

If the batteries are worn out, they won’t be able to power the remote control, hence the issue. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase the new CR2025 batteries and install them.

  1. Floor Lamp Is Not Pairing With Bluetooth

The floor lamp is designed with various connectivity options, including Bluetooth. It can be connected to Bluetooth devices for using the scene and light modes.

However, if the floor lamp is not pairing with Bluetooth, we recommend that you reboot the Bluetooth device by turning it off for five minutes. Once the device turns on, turn on the Bluetooth and reconnect the lamp.

The second solution is to reset the floor lamp. For this purpose, you have to press the center button on the lamp’s control box four times while pressing the power button. As a result, the lamp will be reset.

If this doesn’t work either, we recommend that you disconnect the floor lamp from the power source for ten minutes and reconnect it. Then, turn on the Bluetooth and reconnect the lamp to the device!

  1. Floor Lamp Is Not Working

If you turn on the floor lamp but it doesn’t work, the first step is to check the pin connection and make sure it’s correct.

On the connecting pin, make sure that the arrow symbols are lined up, and the arch must be stuck together (you will be able to find the pictures in the manual).

  1. Data Is Not Updating On The App

The floor lamp can be connected to the smartphone app for easier usage and control. When connected to the smartphone app, it constantly updates data on the app.

However, if the device or its data isn’t appearing on the smartphone app, we recommend that you rescan the floor lamp on the Govee Home app. For this purpose, you’ve to follow the below-mentioned steps;

  • First of all, make sure the smartphone and floor lamp are in close range for the floor lamp to appear in the list of available devices
  • Then, turn off Bluetooth on your smartphone and turn it back on. Then, let it discover the devices and look for the Govee floor app in the “My Device” list
  • When the floor lamp appears in the list, tap on it to reconnect the floor lamp to the Bluetooth
  1. Unable To Receive The Push Notifications

When the floor lamp is connected to the smartphone app, there will be push notifications on the smartphone. First of all, you’ve to ensure that the Govee Home App allows the users to send notifications.

Secondly, you have to set the temperature and humidity range because push notifications are sent when these values go out of the range. To set the range, follow the below-mentioned steps;

  • In the Bluetooth range, select the floor lamp from the “My Device” list
  • Wait for the graph page to load
  • Tap on the settings from the upper right corner
  • Slide the alarm to set the temperature and humidity range
  • And done!

Once the temperature and humidity range is set, the push notifications will be sent out automatically. Also, you’ve to ensure that the floor lamp is connected to Wi-Fi.

  1. Floor Lamp Is Not Changing Colors

The floor lamp has been designed with the scene modes setting, with which the LED lights change color according to the changes in temperature, humidity, and other metrics.

However, if the floor lamp has stopped changing the colors, you need to check the voltages because the LED lights on the lamp need more voltage to show and change colors.

We recommend that you use a multimeter to check the output voltage from the power outlet. Then, check the required voltage in the manual – if the values are different, you have to change the power outlet to fix the voltage issues.

Secondly, you have to ensure that power is properly flowing through the lamp. For instance, if a connection in the LED strip of the lamp is broken, the colors won’t change properly.

In most cases, incorrect handling and installation of the floor lamp damage the conduction. So, we recommend that you inspect the floor lamp for broken connections.

When you identify the broken connections, you must use a solder gun to solder the connections – it will restore the power connection, and the floor lamp will change color properly.

  1. Alexa Is Not Functioning Properly

The floor lamp can be connected to Amazon Alexa, as it helps control the floor lamp with the help of voice commands. However, if Alexa isn’t functioning properly, you have to clear the app cache and data for the Alexa app.

For this purpose, you have to open settings, go to the apps tab, and scroll down to Alexa. Then, tap on the “clear cache” and “clear data” buttons to make sure the app data is cleared.

Once the app has been off-loaded, open it again and connect your floor lamp to Amazon Alexa.

  1. Dusk To Dawn Mode Isn’t Working

The floor lamp has been integrated with the dusk to dawn mode, but if the mode has stopped working, it’s likely that the sensors are covered.

For this purpose, we recommend that you check the sensor and make sure it’s clean. The dust can be cleaned with an alcohol pad.
