Aeotec is known to be a reliable way of automating smart homes. This is because they have a variety of products and goods and all of them are designed with convenient usage. The most amazing product is the MultiSensor that’s designed to detect temperature, motion, light lux, humidity, vibrations, and UV.

These devices can be installed wherever you want and their smaller size makes them convenient for at-home installation (you no longer need to hire a technician. However, just like other smart devices, there are some Aeotec MultiSensor problems but we are sharing the troubleshooting method. With this article, we are sharing common problems and the respective solutions!

Common Aeotec Multisensor Problems Troubleshooting

1. Not Sending Data

The MultiSensors have to send data to the current network when they are paired together. However, if this data transmission is disrupted, it can impact performance. To help you out from the situation, we are sharing various troubleshooting methods, such as;

Solutions

The first thing to know is that the MultiSensor is designed to report the data after every one hour (it is generally configurable by using the parameter 101 to parameter 103). So, if the data transmission is impacted, we suggest that you wait for one hour because the value updates might be on the gateway. If the issue is not resolved after one hour, you can follow the next troubleshooting method.

You might know it as notes as well. The UV sensor might not be reading the UV readings (it happens with the indoor settings). That being said, the UV rays are mostly absorbed by the windows which limit the index to around zero. So, if you want to read and check the readings, you must keep the window open and make sure that the MultiSensor is pointed in the upward direction.

If opening and repositioning the MultiSensor doesn’t work, you have to unpair the MultiSensor and re-pair it after some time. So, you’ve to unpair the sensors from the network through the gateway. It is suitable for reviving the response issues. The first step is to set the gateway in the unpair mode and tap on the action button on the sensor. Then, pair the sensor into the network.

2. MultiSensor Not Triggering

For everyone having issues with the MultiSensor that’s not triggering while it’s paired to the network, we are outlining the troubleshooting methods.

Solutions

The first troubleshooting method is to unpair the MultiSensor and re-pair it with the gateway again. It is suitable for fixing the response issues. For unpairing, just set the gateway into the unpair mode and press the action button. As a result, the sensor will be factory reset and you will see the rainbow light gradient (it shows that you can re-pair the sensor again). Then, just pair the sensor on the network.

The users can configure the MultiSensor through the gateway. To be honest, configuring the sensor with the gateway is challenging, so you can ask the Aeotec gateway support team for the instructions. Moreover, they can provide automated configuration from their end.

In several cases, the triggering issues can be caused by incorrect battery utilization. For instance, MultiSensor doesn’t work with the rechargeable CR123A batteries. So, if you are using any such battery with your sensor, you’ve to change the battery. Ideally, you have to opt for a CR123A 3.0V battery.

3. Not Detecting Motion

At times the motion sensors can stop working as well, and here is how you can have that fixed up.

Solutions

When your MultiSensor stops detecting the motion and other components, you must check out the firmware update. This is because updating the firmware will fix the issues from the MultiSensor. When The sensor has the updated firmware, you must unpair the MultiSensor and pair it back to the gateway. For unpairing and re-pairing the MultiSensor, we have already outlined the step.

However, when it comes down to the firmware update, you should have a Z-Wave USB adapter or other USB adapters that are compliant with Z-wave. In addition, you must be using the Windows OS (there are no OSX or Linux firmware update files).

The motion detection issue can happen due to hardware issues in MultiSensor. However, the hardware issues must be checked by the certified repairmen because you don’t want to mess up with the sensor. If the MultiSensor is in warranty, simply call the Aeotec customer support for help (and free repair).
