Nest Indoor cameras are a popular choice for home security, but sometimes they can have trouble connecting to Google Wi-Fi. You can take a few troubleshooting steps to try and fix the problem.
Fixing Nest Indoor Camera Will Not Connect to Google Wi-Fi
- Check Compatibility
First, make sure that your Nest camera is compatible with Google Wi-Fi. You can check this by looking at the list of compatible devices on the Google Wi-Fi website.
- Enable Connection
If your Nest camera is compatible, the next step is to check the connection between your Camera and Google Wi-Fi. To do this, open the Google Wi-Fi app and the Devices tab. Here you should see your Nest camera listed. If it shows as “Offline,” tap on it to try and reconnect it.
- Check Wi-Fi Router
Check that your Google Wi-Fi router is turned on and working properly. Check the router’s documentation or contact the manufacturer.
- Check Nest Camera Placement
Make sure that your Nest Indoor Camera is within range of your Google Wi-Fi router. If it’s too far away, it won’t be able to connect.

Ensure that the Nest Indoor Camera is within range of your Google Wi-Fi router.
- Check Settings
Ensure that the Nest Indoor Camera is connected to the correct Google Wi-Fi network (i.e., the one you want it to connect to).

Interference from other devices prevents the Nest Indoor Camera from connecting to your Google Wi-Fi network. Try moving the Nest Indoor Camera to a different location. Try moving the Camera or router to a different location.
- Check Firewall
If a firewall is enabled on your router, ensure it is not blocking the Nest Indoor Camera from connecting to the network. This is how you disable a firewall:
On your computer, open the Control Panel.
- Click System and Security.
- Click Windows Firewall.
- In the left pane, click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
- If asked for an administrator password or confirmation, enter the password or provide confirmation.
- Under each network profile, select Off for both types of firewall.
- Click OK.
- Restart Router and Camera
If you’ve tried all of the above and the Nest Indoor Camera still won’t connect to your Google Wi-Fi network, try restarting the router and the Camera. This will often fix any temporary connection issues.

To restart your router follow the following steps:
- Unplug the power cord from the router.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back
- Wait a minute or two for the router to reconnect to the internet
- Enter Correct Password
Check that your Google Wi-Fi network’s password is correctly entered on the Nest Indoor Camera. To do this:
- Open the Nest app on your mobile device.
- Tap the settings icon
- Scroll down and tap Add product.
- Select Camera from the list of products.
- Tap Continue.
- Select Wi-Fi network and enter the password for your Google Wi-Fi network.
- Restart Camera
Try restarting both your Google Wi-Fi router and the Nest Indoor Camera.
- Factory Reset
If you’re still having trouble, try factory resetting the Nest Indoor Camera and setting it up from scratch. Here’s how you factory reset the Camera
Press and hold the Nest Indoor Camera’s reset button for about 10 seconds.
The light on the front of the Camera will turn red and then flash white, signifying that it has been reset.
Once the Camera has been reset, you can set it up again from scratch following the instructions in the Nest app.
