The Nixplay frames are capable of displaying both still photographs and motion pictures. Nixplay’s Seed Wave elegant picture frame now supports Spotify Connect. Users may now use Wi-Fi to stream music to the digital picture frame’s speakers rather than Bluetooth, which was previously an option.
Does Nixplay Have Sound?
- Dual-Speaker
The digital picture frame has two speakers on the back of it. The 5W speakers provide a lot of power. The audio quality of the Nixplay Seed Wave speakers was exceptional, according to our evaluation. The audio was neither distorted nor muted even though speakers were placed at the back of the frame. In the same manner that Spotify Connect works with any other device that supports the function, the Nixplay Seed Wave is compatible with the service. A Wi-Fi network may be used to play music from any other device connected to the same network if the frame is linked.
- Price and Availability
Nixplay sells the Nixplay Seed Wave for $259/£249.99. Amazon also carries it. There is just one size available for the Seed Wave: 13in. Amazon Alexa works with the US model when connected to an Echo device.
- Design and Building
The rear of the Seed Wave, which contains the speakers, is the first thing you’ll notice about it. As an additional stand, a braided power input cable is included. If you’re interested in this feature, you’ll need to find a way to hide the cord when the frame is on exhibit, as it’s unappealing.
However, as there is no internal battery, you will not have to worry about it abruptly shutting off (unless you have configured it to shut down automatically after a specified length of inactivity). Additionally, the Seed Wave is a little heavier, coming in at about 1 kilogramme.
- Specs and Attributes
However, the Seed Wave does not contain an SD card slot, but it does offer 10GB of cloud storage. Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Dropbox, and Verizon Cloud are some social media and other online photo streams that may be connected to this app. Few frames have Spotify compatibility. Even though Spotify isn’t pre-installed on the device, you can still use your phone to stream music via the frame’s speakers. The lack of YouTube or other streaming services leaves us wanting more regarding audio/visual capabilities, but it might push the frame closer to a tablet or bright display area. As expected, the Seed Wave’s sound quality was decent but not exceptional, with a little higher output in the treble and midrange frequencies than in the bass ranges. Nixplay prioritises visual fidelity above audio, which is understandable given that the frame costs over £200.
The Bottom Line
The Nixplay comes with cloud storage, Spotify controls, and Alexa compatibility, all of which are included in the price. It’s hard to be dissatisfied with the photos alone if that’s all you want. The graphics are bright and clear on the 13-inch display, although the brightness may need to be turned up. You won’t have to come up with more than a couple of hundred pounds for this.
