Wyze is a pretty decent brand that is primarily known for its security cameras. However, it also maintains an extensive portfolio when it comes to other devices like smart bulbs. So far, users are pretty amazed by the performance of these bulbs as they are easy to install and bring years of consistent performance. Even though some issues are inevitable when you’re dealing with smart devices, the occurrences of these issues are rare when it comes to Wyze.
The only issue that some homeowners face with the Wyze bulb is that it will sometimes appear offline. Usually, basic troubleshooting methods are enough to fix this issue, and you don’t need to spend much time fixing the problem. So, try out these methods to fix the Wyze bulb.
Wyze Bulb Offline
- Check Power
If the bulb is appearing offline and there are no issues with your current connection, then the first thing you should check is the Wyze bulb power connection. There is a chance that the switch is turned off or the fixture is defective. So, your first move should be streamlining the power connections to the bulb, and that will fix the offline status.
To check the power output from the outlet, you can use any voltage measuring device like a multimeter. If the power from the outlet doesn’t match the requirements of the Wyze bulb, changing the outlet is the only reasonable choice.
- Power Cycle Bulb
Sometimes, a quick reset to the power connection is all you need to get ahead of this issue with the Wyze bulb. So, even if the power from the outlet is optimal, remove the bulb from the fixture for a few seconds. After around 30 to 50 seconds, you can attach the bulb to the fixture and then check the status through the mobile application. Hopefully, the issue will be fixed at this stage, and you won’t have to try out more methods.
- Add Bulb Again
If the Wyze bulb remains offline after power cycling the unit, then adding the bulb to the mobile application is your next move. Just open up the app and remove the bulb from the app. Now, you should re-log into your Wyze account and then go through the installation of the bulbs again. This will take a minute, but once you’re logged in and paired up with the bulb again, you won’t have to worry about the online status again.
- Check Internet Connection
The internet connection is the next thing you need to consider if the Wyze bulb won’t go online. Even if there are no issues with eh power or bugs in the app, a faulty internet connection is one of the leading causes behind the offline status. So, try to reset the router or connect your bulb to a different network. This will refresh the connection, and the bulb will come online when you connect it with a stable internet connection. For this reason, you need to make sure that the internet is working perfectly.
- Factory Reset Bulb
Resetting the bulb might not be the best choice as you have to go through the whole installation again, but if you’re not getting ahead of the issue, then there is no harm in resetting the bulb. Resetting the bulb to factory settings will eliminate any programming bugs in the smart device. So, you won’t have to worry about dealing with the same connection problems with the smart app. In the majority of cases, resetting the bulb is the last option that has a decent chance of fixing the problem.
- Reinstall Application
Reinstalling the application is another decent way of fixing the offline status if you’re sure that there are no issues with the bulb. If you’ve been on an outdated version for too long, then it is not that rare to run into status issues. So, just remove the application from your phone and install the latest version.
After that, you can log back into your Wyze account and check the bulb status. This time around, the bulb should appear online if it is not defective. So, just reinstall the app and if that doesn’t fix the issue, then call the dealer and claim your warranty.
