Out of the many features that come with Amazon Alexa, announcements are one particular feature that you can use to send any recorded audio to be played on every compatible device you have at your house. Just like the name suggests, the feature is quite handy when you have to make an announcement in the whole house.
But recently, we have been seeing users run into an error when using the Alexa announcement. In case you have also found yourself experiencing the same error message, then here is what you can do about it:
How to Fix Alexa Announcement Error?
- Ensure Announcements Are Enabled
One of the first reasons why this error could suddenly pop up is because of the announcement feature which might be currently disabled on your app. If that is so, then all you will need to do is to make sure that you enable back the feature.
To enable it, you will have to go to your phone’s settings and make your way to Device Settings > Device’s name > Communications > Announcements. Here, you should see an option to enable/disable the announcement. Just make sure that you have it enabled.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you are not getting any option for enabling/disabling the announcement feature, then it is likely that your device does not support the feature.
- Connectivity Issue
Another thing that could lead to this particular error is having issues with the device’s connectivity. To be more specific, you will need to make sure that the device is even connecting to a working network connection.
We recommend that you try rebooting your Wi-Fi router which should also make your device reconnect to the network. At the same time, you can also try rebooting your Echo device. Ideally, you would want to wait a few seconds before you turn on either one of the devices.
- Checking Other Devices
In order to effectively troubleshoot this error, we also recommend that you check all the other devices through which you wish to make an announcement. For instance, it could be that most of these devices might be switched to “Do not Disturb” mode which might cause these devices to stop working.
Similarly, we also recommend that you check whether all these devices have the required permission in order to run Alexa’s commands. Also, make sure that all these devices are actually connected to the same network. Having any one of them connected to a different network can also cause such problems to surface.
Other things to check include making sure that each one of the devices is fully turned on.
- Signing into Your Account
It could be that your account is simply bugged out which might be causing your device to suddenly start acting up. If that seems to be the case, then signing into your account again might be able to fix the problem.
Start by signing out of your Alexa account. Ensure that you log out of your account from all Echo devices. Once you have, simply log back inside your account.
- On-Going Call
If your device is currently in an ongoing call, then you won’t be able to make any announcements. So, for the feature to work correctly, you have to make sure there isn’t any ongoing call on the device.
- Seeking Help from Support
If you still hadn’t had any luck in resolving the error, then the only other thing left is to contact the support team. Let them know about the issue that you are facing along with the things that you have already tried for troubleshooting.
Likewise, they should help you get the issue resolved by guiding you further.
The Bottom Line:
Facing an error with your Alexa Announcement? Most of the time, this error is caused because of a connectivity issue with the device. Either the Echo device itself or the devices that you are trying to make an announcement through might be in a “Do Not Disturb” mode.
But that isn’t always the case. This is why it is highly recommended to go through each one of the steps mentioned above in the article.
