ISY is a home automation controller that is known for its reliability. It allows you to have greater control over your smart devices. The best thing about this controller is that it is not cloud-based. That means that even when your internet is not working properly all your devices will continue to function as you desire.
However, it can be a bit challenging to program ISY properly. Some of the users have mentioned issues with getting their ISY device to enable internet access. Here are some fixes that can help you sort out this problem.
ISY Failed Enabling Internet Access
- Router UPnP
The first thing you have to check is whether or not your router supports UPnP. The “enable internet access” feature in ISY uses UPnP to set up a port forward for the router to connect to, this allows the router to connect to your ISY device. But if your router does not support UPnP then you will receive the error that enabling internet failed.
You can enable the UPnP feature on your router through the web portal. All you have to do is type the IP address of your router onto your browser’s URL section. Login to the admin panel and navigate to tools, after that you have to click misc. and you’ll be able to see a UPnP option. You can either enable it or disable it depending upon your preference.
- Restart Router
It can also be the case that your router is not functioning properly which is why your ISY device can’t connect to the internet. Most often than not the main issue is with port forwarding and not the router. But just to eliminate the possibility of your router not working properly give it a quick restart and try again to check if that fixes the problem for you.
- Port Mapping
The main reason why this issue happens is customers are not sure how to forward a port to allow for the router to connect safely. Most people recommend not to use the UPnP port because it can give malware access to your ISY device. To be on the safe side you should always use port mapping to give your ISY device access to the internet.
You can do so by going into the admin panel and changing configuration settings to set appropriate HTTP and HTTPS ports. You should also map your ISY mac address to assign it an IP address for your home network.
This process can be quite complex for most users so we recommend that you get in contact with the ISY support and seek help from a professional to guide you through every step of the way. If you’re still confused you can look up tutorials on YouTube or read through the user guide to better understand how to go through the process.
You can also post on community forums and have other users guide on what method worked for them. This way you would not have to spend much time waiting to get a response from the support team and sort out your issue quickly.
