Ring Doorbell Not Ringing Inside House

For those of us who use quite a bit of smart home gear, Ring will be a band that doesn’t need all that much of an intro.

At this point the brand has become somewhat of a household name, with many of you out there relying on them for your security needs.

One of their products that has become more commonly used than most is the Ring Doorbell. In essence, this device does an awful lot more than the name would suggest. It is so much more than just a simple doorbell.

Instead, we would consider it as a basic but rather useful security device. For example, it allows you to see who’s at your door, letting you decide if you want to answer it or not.

In high crime areas, such a function for such a small cost is hugely important.

Another strength of the Ring Doorbell is that you can also record when you feel like you need to. Naturally, because it is also a smart device, it can be operated via your phone.

Really, when it comes to bang for your buck, there’s not really anything else out there that competes with it.

However, having trawled through the net to find your feedback on the device, it seems that a good few of you are calling the reliability of the device into question.

Naturally, a security device that only works some of the time isn’t all that safe.

Seeing that, we wanted to put together this article to see just how good the Ring Doorbell is, and whether or not issues with the device can be fixed from home.

With the abundance of complex security features that come with the Ring Doorbell, it really doesn’t inspire confidence when even the most basic of functions fails.

And, we have noticed that there are quite a few users out there that have complained that the doorbell doesn’t ring inside the house. So, in response to these complaints, we decided to put together an impartial guide on the problem.

As a result, we do have some good news for you. It would seem like the issue isn’t likely to be caused by a major malfunction, in most cases.

In fact, there are actually quite a few things that you can do from home that will most likely get it to work again. So, if this is the kind of info that you have been looking for, look no further.

Just follow the tips below and you should be able to get things back to normal again.

1. Make Sure that the Ring Doorbell is Installed Correctly

Of all the reasons for your Ring Doorbell to stop functioning, this one is by far the most likely. One little error in the installation process is all it takes for the whole thing to fall flat.

So, in this case, the only thing we can suggest is that you start the process all over again. Yes, it is annoying to have to do this, but it is very likely to work.

Examine the manual closely and make sure that everything is done exactly as it is supposed to be.

If you are uncomfortable doing this wok yourself, we would recommend calling in a specialist to do it for you. But, doing this by yourself isn’t all that difficult.

As a result, we would at least suggest that you give it a try. After you are done, have a check to see whether or not it is working again. If it isn’t, it is time to move onto the next step.

2. See if the Power Supply and Battery are Okay

If reinstalling the device didn’t bring about the results you were expecting, the next logical thing to check is if the power supply and battery okay.

You will have noticed that when you were installing the device, you had the choice to either operate it from the mains or from battery power.

So, if you opted for the battery option, you definitely need to make sure that the battery is actually charged.

Problems can also arise if you have decided to run the Ring Doorbell from your mains electricity. Mostly, problems can occur if the device just isn’t getting enough electricity to function.

Unfortunately, different models of the Ring will have different requirements, so you will need to check exactly what the type you have needs.

After that, all that remains is making sure that you have the power requirements right. If you want a quick check for this, we would recommend switching over to battery power temporarily to make sure that the device is actually working.

3. Check if Your Wi-Fi Signal is Strong Enough

The thing about every single smart home device is that they are all totally reliant on a decent connection to the internet. Even if your signal drops for a second, your smart home devices just won’t work.

Naturally, the Ring Doorbell is no different in that regard. So, it is of the utmost importance that you check whether your Wi-Fi is sufficient to run the device.

Another thing that is worth checking is whether the router is close enough to the doorbell to communicate with it.

After all, a poor signal can be just as bad as no signal at all. This is why we would always suggest that you attempt moving the router closer to the doorbell before assuming that the device is broken.

If that still doesn’t work, make sure that there isn’t any interference with the signal going on. Move the router away from any other electrical or Bluetooth appliances, preferably up high.

The Last Word

Unfortunately, these are the only fixes that we could find to fix this problem from home.

Unfortunately, if your doorbell still won’t ring inside your home, this may suggest that there is a more serious issue at play than we could have anticipated.

In such a case, all that we can suggest is that you contact customer support rather than trying to go any further by yourself.

That being said, we are always on the lookout for new fixes for these kinds of problems that we may have thought of.

It seems that there is always someone out there who manages to come up with a new and innovative fix that we won’t have thought of.

If you happen to be one of these people, we would love to hear from you in the comments section below. That way, we can then share the word with our readers and maybe save a few headaches further down the line. Thanks!
